KCCA FC has launched the home kit for 2020/21 season.
The jersey design is a culmination of a year’s work thoroughly put together with a story and some inspiration behind its creation just like it was for the 2019/20 kit design.
The kit comes with a number of features that are a symbol of the pillars, identity of the club and the direction the football club is taking for the year 2020/21.
Like culture has always dictated over the years, the home kit comes in yellow and blue colour marred with more yellow and a few patches of deep blue and the shorts blue in colour summed with plain yellow socks.
www.kccafc.co.ug breaks it down for you in regards to what every feature on the 2020/21 home jersey signifies;
The Star above the Crest;
This is about continuity from last year’s jersey.
Established in 1963, KCCA FC has won 13 league titles since inception.
The club has the second highest number of league titles won by a Ugandan club.
With the star representing TEN and KCCA FC having won 13 titles, explains the star above the crest. In the near future when the club attains 20 league titles, the stars above the crest will change to two.
The invisible building blocks (Textures);
Similar to last year’s kit that has invisible textures, this year’s kit also has invisible lines / blocks at the front and the back of the shirt. These need a second and clearer look to get the photographic interpretation.
Whereas last year’s lines represented the forces at the club that drive the club 24/7 and 365 days annually, this year’s invisible blocks / lines are a representation of stadium development which is top on the to club’s to do list for 2020/21 season. The lines represent the pillars and poles that will be a strong foundation of the stadium when construction commences.
Recently the club released the artistic impressions of the stadium, bidding process is done and what is left is procurement process and commencement of stadium development of the KCCA FC Stadium will start soon.
The authentication mark at the base of the shirt
This mark is at the base of the shirt. It is a round black mark that has an Impala (a type of antelope from which Kampala City derives its name from) leaping over the seven hills of Kampala with a mark below showing KCCA FC Since 1963. A clear indication that KCCA FC has been in existence for 57 years and counting.
The IMPALA;
The Impala appears thrice on the jersey. The Impala is at the at the base of the shirt, short and at the back of the shirt just above the tip of the spine
It is a known fact that the name Kampala comes from an Impala, a type of antelope which used to graze on the slopes of Mengo. The name, Hill of the Impala was given specifically to the hill on which Captain Fredrick Lord Lugard, a British administrator, established his camp (Fort) on December 18, 1890. The Baganda translated Hill of the Impala into Kasozi Impala (pronounced Ka Impala and eventually Kampala).
On the new 2020/21 kit, the Impala is leaping forward a sign that KCCA FC has lived for 57 years and is still growing bigger and stronger.
The three blue lines on the wings of the shirt and short
The design on the wings of the shirt is a resemblance of the four lines on the right breast of the 2019/20 shirt.
The three parallel lines run from the armpit to the base of the shirt on both ends of the shirt and short.
The outside line signifies players, technical team, management and board of KCCA FC
The middle line holds a plethora of significance for this year’s shirt design. It signifies stakeholders like KCCA, National Council of Sports, Ministry of Education and Sports and other Executive bodies like FUFA, CAF, Police among others that support KCCA FC in achieving its strategic objectives.
The same middle line signifies the sponsors and partners of KCCA FC who are; KCCA, Startimes, MTN, Britam, Prime Media, Vivo Energy, NC Beverages and partners; USPA, Century Cinema, Club Ambiance. Also, our Schools of Excellence like Kibuli SSS, Old Kampala SSS, Lira Sports Academy and Masaka SSS.
The inside line signifies the fans of the club who are very key to the success of the club.
Because we are more than just a club, the jersey design actually means more to us. A mixture of heritage, legacy, culture, style, fashion, pomp, stakeholders and the future for the club is all represented in the design of the new 2020/21 kit.
The jerseys come in all sizes and fashion that is; kids, females and males catered for.
