Five KCCA FC players have been summoned for National Duty.
The five are Captain and club custodian Charles Lukwago, defenders Kato Samuel and Iguma Dennis, midfielder Bright Anukani and forward Brian Aheebwa.
Uganda Cranes Head coach Johnathan McKinstry released a list of 22 home based players from which 5 or 6 players will be considered for the main squad of 20 foreign based named last week. McKinstry has confirmed that the team will undergo rigorous assessment between 2nd and 8th November 2020 before the final selection is made
Brian Aheebwa has been handed his second senior Cranes call up. The number 9 was recently summoned for national duty but was part of the local based Cranes members that were preparing for the CHAN 2020 Finals in Cameroon that was due in April 2020 before the COVID Pandemic struck and had all plans halted.
Another notable Cranes Call Up is versatile player Dennis Iguma who was a mainstay in the team before he got a knee injury in March 2019. The defender has since returned to full fitness and is ready to show that he deserves to don the national colors again.
Lukwago, Anukani and Kato were part of Jonathan McKinstry’s recent squad that trained in Dubai in preparation for the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers double header
The training for the local based players will run from 2nd to 8th November 2020.
Uganda will take on South Sudan on 12th November at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende with kick off set for 4pm before facing off again 4 days later in Nairobi.
