KCCA FC face Azam FC in the opener of the CECAFA Kagame Cup in what will be a replay of the 2019 final.
KCCA FC are the current holders of the CECAFA Kagame Cup a title they clinched in 2019 breaking the 41 years jinx.
The game will be Morley Byekwaso’s first game as a full KCCA FC Manager after having signed a three years contract in July 2021.

Byekwaso flew in from Ethiopia to Daresalam alongside five players Musa Ramathan, Peter Magambo, Bright Anukani, Samuel Ssenyonjo and Julius Poloto. The six had been away on National Duty in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
24 players are in camp in Daresalam. Only 23 can be registered for this tournament.

In the last two games between both sides, KCCA FC picked up 1-0 wins in both games.
1-0 in the second game in the groups with a goal scored by Sadat Anaku and 1-0 in the Final with a goal scored by Kizza Mustafa.

Brian Aheebwa is back after four months out due to injury and will start upfront.

Five players who were with the Uganda U23 side in Ethiopia joined the camp in Daresalam on Saturday. Musa Ramathan, Bright Anukani, Magambo Peter, Sam Ssenyonjo and Julius Poloto. Most of them are expected to start the game against Azam.
Four of the five KCCA FC signings are in Daresalam. Mugerwa, Majwega, Wasswa and Kayanja. It is likely that we shall have some new faces on Byekwaso’s line up against Azam FC.
