Herbert Achai’s sole goal in the first minute of the game is all KCCA FC needed to pick three points against Mbarara City FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The win guided KCCA FC back to league summit on 31 points from 13 games played so far this season.
KCCA FC showed immediate intent when John Revita’s pass was controlled by Herbert Achai who dribbled from the center line and fired a stinging shot that was parried in the back of the net by Mbarara City goal keeper Elungati in the first minute of the game.
10 minutes later, Mato Rogers picked a loose ball in the box ad dribbled past his man before he was brought down in the box. The referee waved play on.
Brian Majwega won possession in the visitors’ half and sent in a fierce shot that was collected by Elungati in the 14th minute.
Sadat Anaku leaped to head in Achai’s cross in the 19 minute but the ball flew inches wide with the goal keeper beaten.
Custodian Derrick Ochan’s poor clearance was intercepted by Mbarara’s Edwok who was fouled by Jurua outisde the box. Mbarara City’s skipper Mukundane stepped up to take the freekick but the ball flew wide off the upright in the 29th minute.
At the half hour mark, Anaku controlled an aerial ball and went for the spectacular volley but Elungati had a finger on the ball and it rolled outside for a corner kick.
1-0 at halftime.
After recess, Usama Arafati and Davis Kasirye replaced Andrew Kigozi and Brian Aheebwa.
Ashraf Mugume looked to have found the second goal for KCCA FC when he dribbled past two men and shot at goal but his effort rolled inches wide off the goal post with the Mbarara City custodian completely beaten.
John Revita showed seniority at center back when he coolly blocked Kakaire’s goal bound shot in the 66th minute.
In the 76th minute, Majwega dribbled past two men before Mbarara’s Otti pushed his goal bound effort out for corner kick.
With 10 minutes left on the clock, Fillbert Obenchan who had just been announced hours before the game as a returnee to KCCA FC replaced John Revita. Yassar Mugerwa was also introduced in place of Sadat Anaku.
In the 87th minute, teenager Juma Ibrahim replaced Brian Majwega.
1-0 at Full Time.
