National Team | Mato on song for the Uganda Cranes

KCCA FC midfielder Rogers Mato is on song for the Uganda Cranes.

The pacy man has netted two goals in as many games for the Uganda Cranes in the build up games the National Team has had ahead of an upcoming four nation mini-tournament (Navruz Cup 2022) in Uzbekistan.

Mato netted the opener as the Cranes won 3-2 in a highly contested tie against Wakiso Giants FC played at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso district on Saturday 19th March.

Rogers Mato scored again for the Cranes against Buganda Regional Select as both teams played to a one-all draw during a regional tour match at the Naama playground in Mityana on Sunday, 20th March.

6 KCCA FC players were involved in the build up games against Wakiso Giants FC and Buganda Regional Select side. The six are Benjamin Ochan, Herbert Achai, Jurua Hassan, Rogers Mato, Patrick Kaddu and teenager Juma Ibrahim

Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Sredojevic intends to use the summoned players for the upcoming four nation mini-tournament (Navruz Cup 2022) in Uzbekistan that will be held between 25th to 29th March in Markaziy Stadium, Namangan city.

Uganda Cranes will play alongside Tajikistan, hosts Uzbekistan and the Kyrgz Republic.

As quoted by fufa.co.ug, Micho said;

We shall test the players with internal regional build up games and tune the competitive mode since friendly matches are all about trying, testing and experimenting before naming the final 23 players who will travel to Uzbekistan.’ Micho said.

The Uganda Cranes will play their first game against Tajikistan on 25th March 2022.

The third place play-off and final matches will then be held on 29th March 2022. All matches will be played at Markaziy stadium in Namangan.
