Allan Okello’s penalty at the half-hour mark and Shaban Muhammad’s crisp goal to open his account for KCCA FC are all the 13 times Uganda Premier League Champions needed against a physically sound Onduparaka side on a hot afternoon in Bombo.
The game did not have much to report about in the opening 20 minutes as it was all about the physical battle between both sides.
It took until the 26th minute for the game’s first moment of offensive promise when Onduparaka’s Okech Emmanuel’s low drive was pushed away by KCCA FC skipper Benjamin Ochan’s strong left hand.
At the half-hour mark, Rogers Mato was fouled inside the box and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.
Allan Okello stepped up and slotted home from 12 yards to hand KCCA the advantage.
A quick KCCA FC counter-attack started by Kagawa had him release Rogers Mato who teed up Moses Waiswa but the latter’s effort went straight to Onduparaka’s goalkeeper Muwanga Mathias.
Just when it looked like 1-0 would be the score at the interval, Shaban Muhammad had other plans. The forward was teed up by Allan Okello from deep and he controlled well, beat his marker, and slotted home the second goal for KCCA FC and his first for the season in added time.
2-0 the score at the interval.
KCCA FC with the bragging rights.
After recess, Onduparaka’s Ndifuna Bernard was cautioned for a foul on Shaban in the 52nd minute.
Five minutes later, Mato released a beauty of a pass to Shaban who got through on goal but was traced by Onduparaka’s custodian Muwanga.
KCCA skipper Ochan was called into action once again with a smart save to deny Onduparaka’s Muwonge just five minutes after the hour mark.
Four minutes later, Morley Byekwaso made the game’s first changes for his side, introducing Julius Poloto and Saidi Mayanja for Allan Okello and Rogers Mato.
In the 80th minute, Charles Lwanga and Tshisungu Kankonde replaced Kagawa Ssenoga and Shaban Muhammad respectively.
Five minutes later, Usama Arafati replaced Moses Waiswa.
Charles Lwanga got cautioned in stoppage time for a high boot on an on-rushing opponent.
2-0 the final score.
