Seven KCCA FC teenagers summoned for National Duty – AFCON U20

Seven KCCA FC teenage players have been summoned to the Uganda Hippos squad ahead of the AFCON U20 tournament in Egypt in February 2023.

Two of seven players are defenders Juma Ibrahim (CD Leganes) and Allan Enyou (Elite Falcons FC) who are licensed for the 2022/23 season but were sent out on loan.

The other five players are Haruna Lukwago, Faisal Wabyoona, Saidi Mayanja, Andrew Kawooya and Ddembe John Paul.

Former KCCA FC player and living legend Jackson Mayanja who is now the Uganda Hippos Head Coach named a provisional 50-man squad ahead of the tournament.

According to fufa.co.ug, the U20 team will enter residential camp on Wednesday 11th January 2023 at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, for a couple of days before shifting base to the Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisaasi.

The Hippos qualified for the second successive AFCON U20 finals. They previously finished as runners-up in Mauritania, 2021 under Morley Byekwaso who is now the Manager of KCCA FC.

They Hippos are pitted in Group B alongside Central African Republic, Congo Brazzaville, and South Sudan.

The AFCON u20 tournament will run from February 19th to March 11th in Egypt, in the cities of Cairo, Ismailia, and Alexandria.
