KCCA FC shared spoils with UPDF FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo in a closely contested fixture played under flood lights.
This was the third game on the bounce that KCCA FC was sharing spoils with a league side.
KCCA FC got a number of chances in the opening stanza but they could not turn them into goals.
In the 8th minute, Okello Allan’s well taken free kick whistled off the frame of the goal and went out.
10 minutes later, Okello dribbled past Muwanga and opted to shoot on goal himself but his effort hit the side net.
In the 22nd minute, Kagawa teed up Okello who shot with his weaker foot and the ball flew wide when the goal keeper was beaten.
With 10 minutes left to play in the opening stanza, the visitors could have gone one up but forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe failed to capitalize on an error by KCCA FC custodian Derrick Ochan and the former’s effort rolled wide with the goal at his mercy.
Goalless at the break.
After recess, forward Kankonde Tshisungu replaced the skipper Julius Poloto.
In the 52nd minute, Shaban teed up Mato whose first time shot was parried wide by UPDF’s Were.
Six minutes later, Shaban was the provider for Kankonde who leaped high and nodded home from close quarters to break the deadlock and hand KCCA FC the lead.
In the 73rd minute, Saidi Mayanja and Charles Lwanga replaced Kagawa Ssenoga and Shaban Muhammad.
With 11 minutes left on the clock, Kankonde found the back of the net with an overhead kick but the referee signaled for a foul in the build up and awarded UPDF a free kick in their box.
Usama Arafati then replaced Rogers Mato in the 83rd minute.
Derrick Ochan made a top class save to deny Douglas Oyirwoth from close quarters in the 90th minute.
Just when the 4th official had signaled for a minimum three minutes additional time, Douglas Oyirwoth restored parity for the visitors right at the death of the game.
1-1 at fulltime.
