KCCA FC overcame Kenya’s Kakamega Homeboyz in the first ever organized KCCA FC Day at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The pre season friendly match was organized for both sides to get a proper test against each other ahead of the CAF Club Competitions
Both KCCA FC and Kakamega Homeboyz will feature in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup qualifier games.
KCCA FC had earlier unveiled a 31 man squad ahead of the 2023-24 season and named Julius Poloto, Fillbert Obenchan, Peter Magambo and Herbert Achai as Captains respectively.
Deputy Captain Obenchan led the team onto the pitch as the full skipper Poloto started on the bench.

Sergio named; Anthony Emojong (GK), Bruno Adilson, Herbert Achai, Fillbert Obenchan (C), Emilson Zeca, Cungulo Gui, Joel Sserunjogi, Usama Arafat, Mugume Ashraf, Shaban Muhammad, and Etienne Katenga in his line up for first half.
It took 28 minutes of the game for KCCA FC to break the deadlock through a well struck ball by Usama Arafat.
The visitors almost leveled matters through Hillary Otieno but his effort was cleared off the goal line by the young and smart goal keeper Anthony Emojong.
With five minutes to the interval, Kakamega’s Moses Mudavadi teed up Ambrose Sifuna whose cut back found Brian Eshihanda but his effort was miscued and the ball went begging.
Obenchan was then cautioned for a late challenge on Kakamega’s Sifuna three minutes from the break.
1-0 at the interval.

After the break, Sergio made some changes introducing other players into the friendly.

10 minutes into the second half, Kakamega’s Eric Ambuya was cautioned for a foul on Hassan Mubiru.
At the hour mark, Kakamega’s Eston Omengo came close to leveling the score with a long range free kick but goal keeper made a crucial save.
Seven minutes later, the skipper Julius Poloto nodded home the second goal from a perfectly crossed ball off Haruna Lukwago.
2-0 the final score.

Focus now turns to FUFA Super 8 which kicks off on Friday 11th August 2023 against Wakiso Giants FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
