UPDF FC 1-2 KCCA FC

KCCA FC were 2-1 winners over UPDF FC and secured a massive win on the road.
This was KCCA FC’s third win in as many games following victories against Bright Stars and SC Villa.
The win was also KCCA’s second on the road this term.
Ashraf Mugume’s first-time finish put KCCA in front in the 20th minute, thanks to Joel Sserunjogi’s deft pass.
Earlier in the 8th minute, UPDF’s custodian Wasswa was cautioned for a foul on Shaban Muhammad on the edge of the box.
Ettiene Katenga would later get cautioned for a foul on UPDF’s Muwadda Mawejje at the half-hour mark.
Nine minutes later, UPDF’s Kiirya, who was the last man, was cautioned for fouling Katenga. The referee only cautioned the player.
1-0 at the break.
After recess, UPDF’s Kintu was the first to go into the referee’s book for a foul on Katenga in the 50th minute.
Five minutes later, UPDF’s Faridi nodded past KCCA’s custodian, Derrick Ochan to level the tie.
Hardly had the hosts found the leveller when KCCA’s skipper Fillbert Obenchan produced a sensational finish from 30 yards out to restore KCCA’s lead at the hour mark.
Three minutes later, UPDF’s Ssekimpi committed a second bookable offence and received his marching orders from the center referee.
In the 70th minute, youngster Dominic Ayella replaced Shaban.
Hardly had Ayella made his first touch, a fine shot kept out by UPDF’s Wasswa when he was stretchered off the pitch.
Abubaker Mayanja and Emmanuel Loki replaced Dominic Ayella and Gui Cungulo.
A quick interplay between Abu and Katenga saw the latter fouled by UPDF’s Bernard Muwanga at the edge of the 18-yard box. Wasswa, the UPDF’s custodian, wonderfully saved the ensuing free kick by Sserunjogi.
The referee issued Joel Sserunjogi a yellow card for delaying taking KCCA’s free kick.
The final change for KCCA saw Hassan Mubiru replace Katenga.
2-1 at full-time.

KCCA FC host URA FC next in the penultimate game of the first round on Tuesday, 2nd January 2024 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
