KCCA FC and Kitara FC played out a three-all draw at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Two of KCCA’s goals came in the first half from Joel Sserunjogi and Bright Anukani who converted from the penalty spot.
Hassan Muhamud later scored a goal to level the tie, but that was not enough to progress to the semifinals of the competition.
In the 9th minute, Joel Sserunjogi’s long range effort flew past Kitara’s custodian, Chrispus Kusiima to hand KCCA the lead.
A minute later, Dennis Omedi leveled the score.
Saidi Mayanja’s attempt from 20 meters out flew over the bar even when the goalkeeper was completely beaten in the 24th minute.
Jude Ssemugabi gave Kitara FC the lead in the 36th minute.
With a minute to the end of the first half, Kitara’s Otti fouled Etienne Katenga in the box, and the referee, Joshua Duula, awarded KCCA the penalty.
Bright Anukani stepped up to convert from 12 yards and level the tie in first half stoppage time.
After recess, Sharif Ssengendo replaced captain Julius Poloto.
Three minutes after the restart, Kitara found the back of the net courtesy of Jude Ssemugabi again.
In the 53rd minute, Hassan Muhamud nodded home from Bright Anukani’s corner kick to level the tie three-all.
Kitara’s Ssemugabi and Ndihabwe were cautioned for fouls on Mayanja and Katenga, respectively.
In the 62nd minute, Hassan Muhamud was cautioned for a foul on Omedi.
Abubaker Mayanja was replaced by Emmanuel Anyama in the 67th minute.
Shafik Nana Kwikiriza replaced Juma Ibrahim in the 78th minute.
Anthony Emojong was cautioned in the stoppage time.
3-3 the final score. Kitara FC progressing to the next round of the FUFA Super 8, while KCCA FC will play Maroons FC in the 5th place match on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
