Saturday, August 31, 2024
KCCA FC picked a win against NEC FC and finished 5th in the year’s FUFA Super 8.
A goal from forward Abubaker Mayanja just three minutes after the hour mark is all KCCA FC needed to overcome NEC FC.
KCCA FC enjoyed most of the possession all game but had nothing to show for it.
In the first stanza, Mugume’s free kick at the edge of the 18-yard box was saved by NEC’s Ssebwalunyo, in the 21st minute.
Kwikiriza’s lob inside the box met an unmarked Katenga, but his overhead kick was saved by custodian Sebwalunyo in the 23rd minute.
Five minutes later, Mugume teed up Abubaker Mayanja, who slotted the ball in the back of the net, but the goal was ruled offside.
Goalless at the interval.
After recess, Munguchi laid a beautiful ball to Mugume, who teed up Abu but the forward was a second late and his effort was saved.
Julius Poloto then replaced Etienne Katenga in the 59th minute.
Four minutes later, Abubaker Mayanja caught the NEC defense napping, and he guided the ball past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
In the 74th minute, Kwikiriza beat two of his markers and laid a good ball to Mugume, but his final touch was a little too heavy, and the ball was cleared away by NEC’s Kiyemba.
Sharif Ssengendo and James Mubezi then replaced Steven Munguchi and Isa Mubiru later on in the game.
1-0 the final score.
KCCA FC finishing 5th in the FUFA Super 8.
