KCCA FC were 1-0 winners over URA FC in the league opener held at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Anukani whipped a beautiful cross early on but Saidi Mayanja’s header was pushed out by URA’s Ochan.
At the half-hour mark, some good interplay in the URA box had Nsibambi tee up Saidi who riffled the ball in the bottom right corner to hand KCCA FC the advantage.
Two minutes later, Joel Sserunjogi was cautioned for a foul on URA’s Namanya.
At the 40-minute mark, Nsibambi was at the end of a whipped-in ball by Ssengendo, and the former tapped the ball into the back of the net, but the goal was ruled as offside.
URA’s Kimbowa Sharif was then cautioned for a foul on Etienne Katenga.
1-0 at the interval.
After recess, Haruna Lukwago replaced Sharifu Ssengendo.
Bright Anukani could have doubled KCCA’s lead, but his stinging shot was parried away by goalkeeper Ochan in the 48th minute.
Lukwago’s introduction breathed more life into the game. In the 64th minute, his cross was headed inches wide by Saidi.
URA’s Joshua Lubwama was cautioned for a foul on KCCA’s Nsibambi.
Ashraf Mugume later replaced Ettiene Katenga.
1-0 at full time.
KCCA FC starting the league with a home win against the tax collectors.
KCCA FC will visit BUL FC next on Friday 20th September at their new home, Lugazi Stadium.
