Four Summoned to Uganda Cranes
Four KCCA FC players have been summoned to the Uganda Cranes ahead of AFCON 2025 qualifier games against South Africa and Congo.
The quartet comprises Mutwalibi Mugolofa, Shafik Kwikiriza, Gavin Mugweri Kizito, and Saidi Mayanja.
The trio of Mayanja, Kizito, and Kwikiriza were part of the 27-man Uganda Cranes squad that featured against South Sudan in October 2024.
Uganda will take on South Africa at home (Mandela National Stadium) on November 15, 2024, before visiting Congo four days later.
The two games present a chance for Uganda to seal qualification to AFCON 2025 with a point needed from the possible six.
Coach Put explained why he has summoned four goalkeepers this time, including Mutwalibi Mugolofa, who plies his trade at KCCA FC.
We are aware that CHAN is around the corner and we have games against Burundi next month. So I needed to have him (Mugolofa) around the setup and also get training sessions with the goalkeeping coach. He has been performing well in the league, and maybe next time we will summon another goalkeeper.
The Uganda Cranes will enter the residential camp on Sunday at Cranes Paradise, Kisasi with foreign-based players joining as and when they arrive in the country.
Uganda tops Group K on 10 points, two ahead of South Africa, while Congo and South Sudan have four and zero points, respectively.
