Striker Geoffrey Sserunkuuma was more lethal than any other striker in the first round of the 2016/2017 Azam Uganda Premier League.
Sserunkuuma scored nine goals to top the league scorers’ chats, at KCCA FC he is followed by Muzamir Mutyaba, Derrick Nsibambi and Joseph Ochaya who are all on four goals.
It’s that league form that mantained KCCA on to of the 16 team log and makes Sserunkuuma believe that the side will have to be replicated if KCCA FC is to come out on top at the end of the season.
We ended the first round of the season on a high, we have to give our all in the second round because everyone is looking at getting themselves better, the league is tight and any mistake can get you in trouble
KCCA FC open up the league second round against BUL FC at Lugogo on February 7th 2017, a side they defeated 3-1 in the first round at Kakindu.
Just like the rest of his teammates, Sserunkuuma hopes that the team can stay injury free but also work extra hard collectively.
We need to keep ourselves injury free but also utilize our squad well, we have to defend the league title, give our best in the Uganda Cup, so we just have to work hard to make sure we achieve all that
After playing BUL, KCCA FC will three days later take on Club Primeiro de Agosto in the first leg of the preliminary round of the 2017 Total CAF Champions League art Lugogo.
Sserunkuuma describes the match as tough but one that the 11 time league champions cant fail to go past especially since they host the first game at home.
It’s a tough game but one we need to win here in Kampala with a huge margin, we know little about them just like they know little about us but home advantage should utilized well
Sserunkuuma is arguably the best striker of his generation and right is at peace at KCCA FC, which has prompted him to give always try and give his best and he promises more.
My ambition is to always score goals but also get involved in assisting them but the primary target is finding the back of the net and I have to improve on that if the team is do well in the second round
Because of his prowess in front of goal, manager Mike Mutebi has time and gain publicly declared Sserunkuuma as his first choice striker who can either play with Nsibambi or Ssentongo, the latter two have complimented very well.
