KCCA FC take on African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of the 2017 Total CAF Champions League on Friday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
And after the Wednesday morning training session at the Tshwane University of Technology sports complex in Pretoria, defensive midfielder Isaac Kirabira is confident the team are in perfect shape
We are ready as a team. We respect them (Sundowns) because they are the defending champions but we also champions back home
Kirabira told www.kccafc.co.ug before also revealing that he got the chance to watch Mamelodi Sundowns play and know how to hurt them.
I got the chance to watch them on TV and they play with speed especially in the midfield. We just need to be more cautious and play as a unit because we at least know what they are capable of
Kirabira also believes Mamelodi Sundowns missing goalkeeper Dennis Onyango is a blessing in disguise for KCCA FC.
I don’t know about the other goalkeepers at Sundowns but Onyango is a key player , the best goalkeeper and best player in Africa, so his absence is a blessing in disguise for us,” said the combative midfielder.
KCCA FC knocked out CD Primeiro de Agosto 2-2 on aggregate on away goals rule and the same over Sundowns will make them the first Ugandan club to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League.
KCCA FC come to South Africa with a decent record, having failed to score just once out of the 22 games they have played this season, scoring a staggering 51 goals, conceding 16 in all competitions.
