Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) seek to become the first Ugandan club to reach the group stages of the prestigious 2017 Total CAF champions league since the tournament changed format in 1997.

The Ugandan league champions are just 90 minutes away from achieving the dream and its last year’s winners Mamelodi Sundowns who stand in their way.

First choice goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan believes they have the ability to knock out Sundowns and be part of history as the two sides meet for the return leg this Saturday at Phillip Omondi stadium.

We know the challenge ahead of us, because we are facing the defending champions and they (Sundowns) are without a doubt a good team. As players, we want to be part of history as the first Ugandan club to reach the group stages and we are confident we can achieve the feat.

Ochan told www.kccafc.co.ug, the shot stopper however indicates they will have to do extra work and play to their best to earn the result they want.

“The pressure is on us because the only way we can go through is by winning and that calls for a good performance. We need to make sure we score goals but equally keep them at bay.”

Ochan who lost his father last week states that he wants KCCA FC to qualify for the group stages as a dedication to his late dad Dominic B Elepu who passed away on March 6th 2017 and was buried on March 13th 2017.

It was a tough call for me because the club and I made the bold decision to travel to South Africa after my dad (RIP) passing on but I believe the perfect dedication to him would be us making it into the group stages

Sundowns won the first leg 2-1 at the Lucas Moripe stadium last week with Geoffrey Sserunkuma scoring the crucial away goal and winner on aggregate will advance to the group stages.
