Lukwago impressed with opening day cleansheet

Custodian Charles Lukwago put up a stellar performance against Maroons FC in the opening game of the season

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) goalkeeper Charles Lukwago was the obvious man of the match as the defending champions settled for a goalless draw on the opening day of the 2017/2018 Azam Uganda Premier Leaugue season.

The stalement was played at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo after a heavy downpour, and Lukwago proved why he is playing at the best team in country right now.

UPDF FC vs KCCA FC

Keeping a cleansheet is exactly the way Lukwago wanted KCCA FC to start the season if they are to keep their title ambitions alive

Am happy for not conceding, though I thought we should have won the game today, with the chances we created but that’s football, we can build on that going forward

Lukwago told www.kccafc.co.ug after the game, the shot stopper was part of KCCA FC’s preseason together with counterpart Jamil Maliyamungu with Benjamin Ochan away on national team duty.

Lukwago believes his performance against Maroons is good enough to give him a node ahead of Ochan and Maliyamungu against UPDF on Saturday in Bombo.

I am looking forward to the next game, but of course I have to stay focused and work towards that, correct the mistakes from the previous game and hope to stay in shape

In the pecking order, Lukwago is number two behind Ochan, but playing for an ambitious club like KCCA FC, he is required to step up his game but also the stiff competition from the latter and Maliyamungu is helping a lot.

We are three good goalies, and we all push ourselves  in training everyday to be better, so at the end whoever is played can do the job the club because the club comes first

KCCA FC’s next league game is against UPDF in Bombo and will be focusing on collecting maximum points against the army side.
