It’s always a great honor for any athlete to be recognized for their efforts on the field of play. Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba doesn’t differ from the rest.
On Thursday, Mutyaba alongside former teammate and striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Vipers midfielder Tadeo Lwanga were announced as the nominees for the 2017 FUFA Footballer of the Year Award.
I Am humbled by the nomination, 2017 so far has been a great year for me and KCCA FC together with the national team. We won the league, the Uganda Cup, played in the group stages of the Confederation Cup and Uganda qualified for the CHAN finals
Mutyaba told www.kccafc.co.ug on Friday although he didn’t give away much about his chances of coming out on top.
It’s a tough run, Seru (Sserunkuma) had a great year as well just like I did, although he scored important goals for club and country, Tadeo was also vital for Villa and now doing well at Vipers
Mutyaba has been named in the FUFA best XI for the last two years together with the AUPL best XI, he was best midfielder in the 2015/2016 season award.
At club level, his teammates voted him as the Jimmy Kirunda Players’ player of the year after the 2015/2016 season.
If he comes out on top on the night of December 1st 2017 at Commonwealth Resort Beach Hotel Munyonyo, Mutyaba will be the first player in the history of KCCA FC to win the award.
