A goal from defender Fillbert Obenchan and Patrick Kaddu is all KCCA FC needed to overcome a stubborn BrightStars FC side in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.
KCCA FC showed immediate intent for a win from the start with rampant attacks on the opposition. The closest chance coming in the eighth minute courtesy of Obenchan who headed in the back of the net from Mustafa Kizza’s cross but was ruled offside by the linesman.
In the 17th minute, a resilient Obenchan floated highest in the box and nodded home from Kizza’s delivery from the left flank in a typical training ground move.
Custodian Charles Lukwago then swung into action to deny Senkatuka and Onek with a double save seven minutes from halftime.
After recess, the visitors made a double change, introducing Augustine Kancancu and Brian Kayanja for Mahad Kisekka and Aggrey Kirya respectively.
On 67 minutes, KCCA FC also made a double change introducing Mike Mutyaba and Patrick Kaddu for Muzamir Mutyaba and Muwadda Mawejje respectively.
10 minutes later, Jackson Nunda came onto the field of play for Mike Mutyaba who was stretchered off injured.
Defenders Obenchan and Ssenjobe got cautioned while BrightStars’ Martin Kizza joined Alfred Onek on the referee’s list of those cautioned.
Seven minutes from fulltime, Kaddu pounced on a ball in the box and hit in the back of the net to double KCCA FC’s lead.
2-0 the final score.
KCCA FC now lie top on the league log with 10 points in four games and unbeaten so far.
