Champions off to winning start – UPL

By: Moses Magero

KCCA FC got off to a winning start in the 2019/20 season against a newly promoted Wakiso Giants side on match day one held at Startimes Stadium Lugogo.

The game was largely played in a heavy afternoon down pour that not only drenched players but also fans.

KCCA FC asked questions early in the game and it was Mustafa Kizza’s assist in the 15th minute that met Allan Okello unmarked in the box. The teenager brushed the ball in the back of the net to give KCCA FC the lead and open the club’s account just like he did last term.

Wakiso’s Namwanja and ex Kasasiro boy then got booked for a foul on Okello at the half hour mark.

Okello almost doubled KCCA’s lead with a no look effort in the 39th minute but Ibrahim Kiyemba cleared his lines.

In the second stanza, defender Musa Ramathan was cautioned seven minutes after restart for a foul on Viane Sekajugo.

Kato Samuel almost opened his account for the club but his header went inches over the bar from a well weighted ball from Kizza.

In 65th minute, Musa failed to tap the ball in goal from six yards and Mike Mutyaba’s effort was cleared off line by another former Kasasiro player Geoffrey Sserunkuma.

Achai Herbert and Steven Sserwadda were then introduced for Nunda and Mike Mutyaba respectively.
