KCCA FC returned to winning ways against Maroons FC at Startimes Stadium, Lugogo.
The Champions were 2-1 winners against a stubborn prisons side that dominated larger spells of the second stanza.
From the onset, KCCA posed a huge threat but Maroons’ shot-stopper Hannington Sebwalunyo proved to be the difference in the game.
Keziron had the game’s first moment of offensive promise but his effort flew wide, five minutes after kickoff.
Achai then followed through with some fine dribbling past three opponents and then laid a ball to Keziron but the latter ‘s kick went wide.
Kizza, then came through with a flawless free-kick after Achai was fouled on the edge of the 18 yards box but the effort went inches over the crossbar on 13 minutes.
On 21 minutes, Mike Mutyaba produced a picture-perfect finish to give KCCA FC the advantage.
The goal breathed more life in the game and three minutes later, Mike missed a chance to double the lead thanks to Maroons’ custodian Ssebwalunyo who parried the ball over the bar.
Ssekisambu doubled KCCA’ s lead with a fine finish off a ball from midfield gem Keziron Kizito who was making his first start since his cameo against SC Villa in November.
After recess, KCCA FC conceded from an own goal scored by Peter Magambo from a poor clearance in the box on 67 minutes.
Sadam back from injury.
In the final 20 minutes of the game, Mike Mutebi rung some changes, introducing Opio Sunday and long term injured midfielder, Sadam Ibrahim Juma in place for Mike Mutyaba and Keziron Kizito.
Sadam showed some glimpses of sharpness and fine passing technique which gives Mike Mutebi another dimension with the league hitting the business end.
2-1 the final score.
The Champions picking their 14th win of the season and closing in on the gap between them and Vipers SC.
KCCA FC visits Vipers SC next in the league at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday 18th February in a make or break tie that could mean so much in who is named Champion of the Startimes Uganda Premier League 2019/2020 season.
