Teenage prodigy Allan Okello has indicated he is ready to break into the senior team and fight for his place.
Okello who is one of the six teenagers integrated into the senior team from the KCCA FC academy believes he has what it takes to play in the Uganda premier league and any other competition.
I’m confident I can play against the mature or senior players in the league. I have been training with my teammates like captain Okot (Denis), Awany (Timothy) and Mutyaba (Muzamir). All of them are on the national team and whenever I train with them I make sure I learn from them and this gives me courage to work harder
Okello told www.kccafc.co.ug,, head coach Mike Mutebi said he thinks Okello is a special player and likened him to Barcelona’s ace Lionel Messi.
However, Okello said he needs to stay to focused and not get carried away with being compared to Messi.
I believe I just have to remain focused and live to the billing that I’m like Messi,” said the soft spoken midfielder. I have my targets as a player. I want to be a legend not only at KCCA FC but Uganda at large
Okello who signed a four year deal was handed shirt number 8 previously donned by club legends like Jackson ‘Mia mia’ Mayanja and Charles Baker ‘life captain’ Masiko in continuation of the tradition for the club’s for special players.
The other players that were promoted into the senior team include; Julius Poloto,Herbert Achia,Peter ‘machete’ Magambo, Mustafa ‘marcelo’ Kiiza and Noel Nasasira.
