Champions KCCA FC Confirm Participation in CAF Club Champions League 2019-2020

Current league holders and 13 times Uganda premier league champions KCCA FC have confirmed participation in the CAF club Champions League engagements for season 2019 – 2020.

In a response letter addressed to Edgar Watson the Chief Executive Officer of FUFA, Anisha Muhoozi the Ag. Chief Executive Officer of KCCA FC confirmed;


KCCA FC hereby confirms that we shall represent Uganda in the forthcoming CAF Champions League matches for season 2019 – 2020 and accordingly commit to comply with the mandatory requirements for this competition.

On 17th March 2018, KCCA FC made history becoming the only football club from the Pearl of Africa to ever qualify to play in the group stages of the CAF Club Champions League and played its first CAF Champions League group stage match on 4th May 2018 in Gaborone against Botswana’s Township Rollers.

In the 2018 edition, KCCA FC finished third in group A with two wins, four losses and scored eight times but conceded nine in a group that had the top two finishers in Al Ahly and Esperance play in the final where the latter were crowned Champions.

The dates when the CAF Club Champions League games commence are yet to be communicated by CAF which is the continental football governing body. In the meantime, 10th July 2019 is the set deadline for submission of squads to CAF by the clubs that will participate in the 2019/20 edition.
