Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) will be aiming at bouncing back to winning ways when they visit Mbarara City at Kakyeka Stadium after the 2-1 defeat to Proline on Friday in the Azam Uganda Premier League tie played at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.
The clash against Proline was highly anticipated as the hosts scored twice in both halves through Daniel isiagi. Paul Mucureezi got a consolation from 12 yards after Derrick Nsibambi was fouled in the forbidden area.
Proline’s physical approach caught KCCA FC off guard and the former frustrated the champions throughout the 90 minutes.
Strikers Derrick Nsibambi and Shaban Mohammad were kept quiet throughout the game while the midfield of Sadam Juma, Lawrence Bukenya and Muzamir Mutyaba were muscled off every ball possession.
Habiib Kavuma returned to the starting team replacing imjured Kizza Mustafa on the left side of the three man defense alongside Timothy Awany and Obenchan Filbert.
The change of tactics for the aerial balls also yielded nothing on a night the game had little goal scoring opportunities created.
And those few that were available brought the best out of the custodians at both ends of the pitch to keep their teams in the game. KCCA FC slip to third on the log with 22 points, two behind leaders SC Villa and just a point behind second placed Police.
A win against Mbarara will definitely give the 12 time champions breathing space as the league take a break ahead of the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya and the U20 COSAFA Tournament in Zambia.
