Goalkeeper Charles Lukwago is confident that KCCA Football Club can pick a positive result against Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa on March 10, 2017.
The Ugandan champions take on African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of the first round phase of the 2017 Total CAF champions league at the Lucas Moripe stadium.
Lukwago who has four appearances this season with three cleansheets speaks with optimism that KCCA FC can get a positive result away from home.
Mamelodi Sundowns are a good team but we are equally good and that’s why we are at this stage
Lukwago told www.kccafc.co.ug, he however believes it will be important for the team to keep a clean sheet in the first leg.
As a goalkeeper, in a tournament like the CAF champions league, it is always important to keep a clean sheet more so when you are away. It will be vital that we keep it safe at our goal and then make sure we score a goal or goals
About whether he will be able to command a starting slot ahead of first choice goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan, Lukwago indicated it is upon the manager to decide on who starts on Friday.
The manager knows best who is fit and deserving on the day but my job is to continue working hard and in case a chance comes, it should find me ready but I need to stay optimistic.
Lukwago’s four appearances this season have come in the FUFA Uganda Cup (Lungujja Galaxy and Koboko Raising stars) the others in the Uganda Premier League (BUL FC and The Saints FC).
