KCCA Football Club resume league action on Tuesday with a trip to Kavumba Recreation Centre to take on Soana.

This will be KCCA’s fourth game in the second round (19th this season) and first league game in three weeks following continental engagement where the team got eliminated by Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 on aggregate from the Total CAF Champions League.

Team captain Dennis Okot indicates they have put the Champions League elimination behind their backs and the focus now shifts to the league.

“Everyone is ready to move on,” Okot told www.kccafc.co.ug, “The focus now shifts to league action because we need to defend the title. “Defending our title is the only way we can return to CAF Champions League.”

The skipper notes that it is important to take care of one game at a time and that the game against Soana is as crucial as KCCA FC seek to regain summit status.

“We are aware that SC Villa are leading though we have played fewer games but we need to be focused, take care of one game at a moment starting with the game against Soana tomorrow,” Okot stated.

About the departure of Joseph Ochaya, who joined Lusaka Dynamos in Zambia, Okot believes they need to move on as quickly as possible.

“We just need to move on as a team because he has now moved on and we wish him well. I believe we have good players that can ably fill the void,” he said.

KCCA are second on the Uganda Premier League (UPL) table with 41 points, three behind SC Villa. A win against Soana will see the Lugogo based side return to the top.
