Defender Habib Kavuma has been one of the most consistent players at the club this season, his performances attracting the attention of national team coach Micho Sredojevic.

Kavuma returned to the national team in the friendly game against Kenya in Machakos last week after a period of three years.

The soft spoken defender is delighted with the return and believes it will motivate him to work even harder.

“It was a good opportunity for me to return to the national team and I felt happy for the call meaning the coach noticed that I was playing well,” the player told www.kccafc.co.ug.

“I believed this calls for more hard work from me to make sure that I become better and earn another opportunity in the upcoming games.”

Kavuma has been a key figure for KCCA, playing an integral role at the heart of defence despite being a natural left back.

Asked about the game against Soana on Tuesday, Kavuma said they need to keep the momentum and focus.

“We are prepared as a team and my target as a defender is to make sure we do not concede goals but most importantly to make sure we get maximum points,” he stated.

“It will not be an easy game but we just need to make sure we stay focused and stop them (Soana) from scoring and try to utilise our chances,” Kavuma added.

KCCA are second on the table with 41 points, three behind SC Villa. A win against Soana will see the Lugogo based side return to the top.

The first leg meeting at Phillip Omondi stadium ended in a 2-0 win for KCCA with Joseph Ochaya (penalty) and Mutyaba Muzamir scoring.

Ochaya will not be available for KCCA this time after the left back moved to Zambian side Dynamos last week.
