Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) fans will have a chance to vote for their best player of the season as the end of season awards return.
The Awards that are slated for Saturday June 24th 2017 at City Hall in Kampala will have eight categories and one of those categories is the Fans’ Player of the season.
The KCCA FC technical team shortlisted five KCCA FC best players from last season, strikers Geoffrey Sserunkuuma and Derrick Nsibambi, midfielders Allan Okello and Muzamir Mutyaba together with goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan.
The awards that are meant to reward excellency on the pitch in the playing staff were first held last year at the end of the 2015/2016 season a function that was held at the club’s home in Lugogo and was graced by not only current players and officials of the club but also from the past generation.
A total of seven awards will be given out just like last year, with four of those awards named after KCCA FC Legends.
The most prestigious award is the Phillip Omondi Footballer Of The Year Award which was won by Joseph Ochaya, currently playing for Lusaka Dynamos in Zambia.
Tom Lwanga Most Disciplined Player Of The The Year Award whose recipient last year was defender Habib Kavuma, let’s wait and see who will scoop it this time around.
Jimmy Kirunda Players’ Footballer of The Year Award was taken home by Muzamir Mutyaba after his colleagues voted him.
The Jackson Mayanja Young player of the year was last time won by Allan Okello. With a number of junior players coming through from the ranks, we wait and see who will take it home this time.
Ali ‘Mabeere’ Kafeero was voted Fan Of The Year at the inaugural awards, he will face stiff competition from many of his colleagues, majorly Khassim Kyazze.
It was Kawempe Fans’ Branch who walked away with the Fan’s Branch of The Year Award, will they do it again this time round??
