KCCA FC edged Vipers SC 4-2 on penalties in the FUFA Super Cup game held at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Both teams played out a goalless draw at Full Time sending the game to penalties to decide the winner. Kizza Mustafa, Hassan Musana, Bernard Muwanga and Julius Poloto slotted KCCA FC’s penalties in while Geoffrey Wasswa, and Tito Okello scored for Vipers SC. Moses Waiswa put his kick wide while Aggrey Madoi’s kick was comfortably saved by KCCA FC custodian Charles Lukwago.
Earlier on, KCCA FC came close through Allan Okello and Julius Poloto’s attempts in the first half that were saved by the opponent’s custodian Fabien Mutombora.
Muwanga almost opened KCCA FC’s account on the day with a bicycle kick that went inches out. Mike Mutyaba in similar style kicked the ball straight in Mutombora’s hands.
As the game grew tense Vipers’ Taddeo Lwanga was booked for a foul on Lawrence Bukenya who also was booked later on for a foul on Livingstone Mulondo.
In the second stanza, Sadat Anaku and Esenu Musa were introduced for Mike Mutyaba and Allan Kyambadde respectively to try increase fluidity in KCCA FC’s attack.
Youngsters Achai Herbert and Okello combined well to set up Sadat Anaku whose effort went wide. Poloto.
Dan Sserunkuma looked to have won it for Vipers SC at the death but his effort was deflected out by goal keeper Lukwago after a sharp turn and shot effort in the box.
After 90 minutes, it was penalties to decide it and KCCA FC edged Vipers SC in a 4-2 score.
Having won the FUFA Super Cup a third time in a row, KCCA FC will now retain the trophy for keeps.
