It was a game that lived up to the prematch hype, The Lugogo derby was never going to be easy for both league champions KCCA FC and proline FC on Saturday.
And it was KCCA FC that looked the sharper team from the 1st whistle, Geoffrey Serunkuuma showing why he was named in the 40 Cranes provisional squad.
Serunkuuma squeezed his way through the Proline defense only to be denied by goalie Nasser Lwamunda.

KCCA FC piled tonnes of pressure onto Proline defense thus Yusuf Mukisa bringing down Derrick Nsibambi in the box after 15 minutes and Serunkuuma made no mistake from 12 yards.
The goal was followed up by spectacular saves from Proline’s Nasser Lwamunda off Awany’ header and near Serunkuuma’s miss after Mutyaba had put it on the plate for him.
Moments later quick runs saw KCCA FC score in 35th minute off Derrick Nsibambi from a Serunkuuma assist, it was the latter’s fourth straight goal of the season.
A minute later, sloppy defending cost KCCA FC as old boy Nelson Senkatuka controlled with his weaker left foot, turned to his stronger side before putting one past the helpless Benjamin Ochan.
KCCA FC will have to thank Habib Kavuma who took a yellow card for the team when he stopped Edrisa Lubega who was through on goal to end the 1st half at 2-1.

On the resume, Proline showed they had benefited from the break more, when Gift Ali put a defense splitting pass passed the KCCA FC defense for Edrisa Lubega to draw level.
KCCA FC huffed and puffed and it was Muzamir Mutyaba’s who pulled out from box of extraordinary moments with a thunderous shot passed Nasser Lwamunda in the 57th to give KCCA FC the lead.
Both tacticians switched to a physical game that saw KCCA FC Ivan Ntege boss the game on introduction with a series of perfectly won battles in the midfield. And 3-2 is how the Lugogo Derby ended.
That kept KCCA FC in the driving sit on the 16 team log of the Azam Uganda Premier League with 31.
KCCA FC will play Sadolin Paints and URA on December 7 and 10 respectively and will be aiming at collecting maximum points as the first round comes to an end.
