KCCA FC has embarked on supporting the Smart City campaign that was launched in September 2021 by the Lord Mayor of Kampala, His Worship Erias Lukwago and Dorothy Kisaka, the Executive Director of KCCA.
Kampala City edged 12 African Cities to claim a lead City role in the Africa Smart Towns Network. It was selected as the lead City among the Twelve (12) African cities in the Africa Smart Towns Network (ASToN).
The other African cities include; Algiers (Algeria), Bamako (Mali), Ben Guerir (Morocco), Bizerte (Tunisia), Kampala (Uganda), Kigali (Rwanda), Kumasi (Ghana), Lagos (Nigeria), Maputo-Matola (Mozambique), Niamey (Niger), Nouakchott (MauritaniaSèmè-Kpodji (Benin)
When we talk of Kampala becoming a smart city, we are making reference to and envisaging “smart people [leveraging on] smart technology, smart permits, smart infrastructure and smart everything” to lead better lives while operating and living within the geographical boundaries of Kampala city. The whole thing of Kampalans buying in rotates around “TAWT” which she explained as Kampala residents being “smart in the way they Think, Act, Work and Talk.” – “TAWT” – Dorothy Kisaka, Executive Director – KCCA.
KCCA FC will be creating awareness about ‘Smart City’ ahead of the 2021/22 season.
