KCCA FC lost 3-0 against Congo Brazzaville’s AS Otoho in the 1st leg of the 2nd Finale 1/16th round of the CAF Confederation Cup match played at Stade Omnisport Marien Ngouabi, Owando.

In a game were both teams played end to end football it was all going to be decided by who was more clinical on the day. The hosts AS Otoho were more clinical.

AS Otoho were awarded a dubious penalty by the referee after Moussa Yedan simulated to have been fouled by KCCA FC skipper Timothy Awany in the penalty area. Mike Mutyaba got cautioned in the hit of the moment. Moussa stepped up and slotted home from 12 yards to give the hosts an early advantage inside 20 minutes of play.

Two minutes later, Mousa pounced on a loose ball from the midfield and fired home past custodian Charles Lukwago to stretch the hosts lead.

Kaddu then came to life in the 28th minute but had his shot saved by Massa Mohikola the hosts’ goal keeper.

Skipper Awany then stepped up to take a fierce free kick from 30 yards but the ball whistled off the upright with 10 minutes to play in the 1st half.

Fillbert Obenchan got booked for tagging on Cisse Mahanane’s shirt and he later made a timely block to deny Arci Muvanga from the resulting free kick.

In added time of the first stanza, Poloto and Gift linked up well for the latter to set up Okello whose shot was parried wayward by Mohikola

After recess, Gaffer Mike Mutebi went for experience introducing Allan Kyambadde and Muzamiru Mutyaba for Mike Mutyaba and Lawrence Bukenya respectively.

Okello was prey to AS Otoho’s backline throughout the game.  

On 55 minutes, Okello beat defender Mandala Konte and sent in a stinging shot but Mohikola was equal to the task.

Kyambadde’s introduction added life to the game. The fast feet winger dribbled past a forest of opposition’s legs and striked fiercely but Mohikola comfortably saved.

AS Otoho made a change taking off goal scorer Moussa and bringing on Alou Bagayoko and later introduced Kikasa Wamba for Arci Muvanga.

Hardly had Wamba entered the field of play when he struck the third goal for the hosts.

Kaddu floated in space to nod home but his effort went wide by a fraction of a centimeter and cluttered his head against Nsenda Landry’s forcing the referee to call for a medical break.

Drama unfolded in the 78th minute when Allan Kyambadde picked a loose ball in midfield, weaved past two defenders and with the goal at his mercy the referee stopped play because the hosts’ keeper was down without any contact. This forced KCCA FC players to question the decision hence Gift Ali getting cautioned.

Otoho made a goal keeper change introducing Mongondza Ngobo for Massa Mohikola and later Mandala Konte got booked for a foul on Muzamiru Mutyaba.

KCCA FC have a huge task to overturn a three goal deficit next Sunday 20th January in the 2nd leg of the 2nd 1/16th final at Startimes Stadium, Lugogo.
