Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) played for a stalemate against visitors Maroons Football Club in their opening game of the 2017/2018 Azam Uganda Premier League.
The defending champions showed intent from the 1st whistle with a near miss from teenage sensation Allan Okello whose effort was kept out by custodian Emmanuel Akol.
Kasasiro boys’ custodian Charles Lukwago then pulled off two miraculous saves in quick succession to keep William Wadri well executed header out.
Allan Okello was then twice denied scoring by the visitors’ custodian in the 23rd and 25th minute with his long range efforts.
Lukwago, continued to put up a man of the performance pulled off another text book save in the 34th minute to deny Pius Obuya.
After the break, deputy captain Habib Kavuma who was on a yellow card was withdrawn by manager Mike Mutebi for Paul Musamali, and then later Julius Poloto was thrown on to the thick of things for Allan Okello.
KCCA FC kept huffing and puffing for the opener but thanks to Maroon’s custodian who denied Tito Okello and Paul Mucureezi with quarter an hour to play.
Lawrence Bukenya was later introduced for Muzamir Mutyaba in what seemed like a tactical move.
Nill all is how it ended, Maroons FC collecting a point against defending champions KCCA FC. KCCA FC travel to Bombo on Saturday to play against UPDF FC in the league.
