KCCA FC picked up a one-all draw in the final a 1/16th preliminary round match against Petro de Luanda at Startimes Stadium, Lugogo and proceded to CAF Confederation Cup.

Mike Mutebi’s charges needed a win of any magnitude to advance to the group stages of the CAF Champions League after picking up a goalless draw in Luanda a fortnight ago.

KCCA FC will now play a qualifier game against an opponent yet to be known on home and away basis and the winner on aggregate will play in the group stages of CAF Confederation Cup.

On 34 minutes, Charles Lukwago fouled Isaac Mensah in the box and Petro were given a penalty. Captain Ricardo Estevao stepped up and slotted home to give the visitors the lead.

After recess, Sadat Anaku and Simon Serunkuma were introduced for Herbert Achai and Nunda Jackson to pick something positive out of the game.

A minute later, Kizza Mustafa drew the tie level with a smart tap in from close range off a ball from substitute Sadat Anaku.

Tangu Gastao and Wilson Pinto handled the ball in the penalty box but the referee waved play on.
