KCCA FC trio makes final Uganda Cranes team to Gabon

Defenders Joseph Ochaya and Timothy Awany, striker Geoffrey Sserunkuuma are the three KCCA FC players who made the final 23 man squad that represent Uganda at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Ochaya is a main stay in the Cranes team through the qualifiers having playing five games missing only the opener against Botswana in Kampala.

Timothy Awany is no stranger to the Cranes’ setup having been of part of the 2016 African Championship of Nations (CHAN) in Rwanda together with Geoffrey Sserunkuuma.

Sserunkuuma is a seasoned striker and currently the leading scorer in the 2016/2017 Azam Uganda Premier League season with nine goals.

Awany will don shirt number 20, Ochaya shirt number two while Sserunkuuma has been entrusted with shirt number nine.

Uganda will open the campaign against Ghana on January 17, before playing Egypt on January 21 and last Mali on January 25.
Two KCCA FC players’ midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba and goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan will be submitted to CAF as standbys just in case a final on the final list gets injured before the start of the tournament.
