KCCA FC has launched its jersey ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The jersey design is a culmination of a year’s work thoroughly put together with a story and some inspiration behind its creation, just like it has always been for the previous 6 years.

The jersey has a number of features that are a symbol of the pillars, the identity, and the direction the football club is taking for the year 2024/25.

As culture has always guided, over the years, the home kit comes in yellow and blue colors.

www.kccafc.co.ug breaks it down for you in regards to what every feature on the 2024/25 home jersey signifies;

The Brazilian Yellow shirt;

As told by living legend and club board member Tom Lwanga, who played for KCCA FC in the 60s, 70s and 80s

Back in the 60s and 70s, KCCA FC was the first and only Ugandan football club that donned the yellow jersey. This was due to the inspiration from the Brazil men’s national football team that was a force to reckon with in football. Brazil played free flowing football and donned the yellow jersey. Its players were so sure of themselves, and they had their own flair and style. This is what inspired the management of KCCA FC at the time to choose the Brazil yellow shirt as the home kit for KCCA FC. It was instilled in us KCCA FC players to play the Brazil way, and that is how the famous Kawowo style was birthed at KCCA FC.

It is with this inspiration and guidance to embrace heritage and legacy that guided the club to reminisce and turn back the years as the grand 60-year celebrations draw closer.

The invisible building blocks (Textures);

Similar to the kits for 2019/20 and 2020/21, this year’s kit also has invisible lines / blocks at the front and back of the shirt. One needs a closer look to get the photographic interpretation.

The invisible lines are a representation of ongoing stadium development, which is top on the club’s priority to have it complete this season. The lines represent the pillars and poles on the stadium.

The “Visit Kampala” mark at the base of the back of shirt

“Visit Kampala” is the official travel guide to Kampala and a product of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

KCCA FC has been using the “Visit Kampala” logo since April 2018, when the club was given the green light by CAF to use it on the front of the jerseys during CAF Champions League group stage matches with an aim to promote the city of Kampala as a whole at the continental level.

The IMPALA;

This mark is at the front of the shirt. The leaping Impala, a type of antelope from which Kampala City derives its name, KAMPALA.

It is a known fact that the name Kampala comes from an Impala, a type of antelope which used to graze on the slopes of Mengo. The name, Hill of the Impala was given specifically to the hill on which Captain Fredrick Lord Lugard, a British administrator, established his camp (Fort) on December 18, 1890. The Baganda translated Hill of the Impala into Kasozi Impala (pronounced Ka Impala and eventually KAMPALA).

On the new 2024/25 kit, the Impala is leaping forward, a sign that KCCA FC has lived for 61 years and is still growing bigger and stronger.

Smart City

The Smart City campaign is one that KCCA has championed since September 2021. Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) unveiled a range of IT-enabled interventions aimed at making life better for all city residents. “Smart City” was among these.

According to Ms. Dorothy Kisaka, the Executive Director for KCCA,

Kampala has a Smart City Acronym ” TAWT” which signifies Kampala residents being “smart in the way they Think, Act, Work and Talk. This to promote cohesion amongst citizens in promoting city transformation
