Akinyemi might have lived to his promise-scoring again against The saints FC but his strike alone wasn’t enough to give the team a win.
The visiting team opened the netted first on 26 minutes after picking up a counter attack which ended up in the box and they labored less to score after Opio had failed to mark Alex Kitata.
The Saints were resilient in the 3rd half as they launched a series of attacks but were defended jealously by the Mpuuga, Kavuma and Mpiima backline.
It was not until the 42nd minute that Nigerian import Sulaimon Akinyemi sent a long shot deep in the far left end of the net to level matters. A few minutes before the referee could blow the half time whistle, Saints earned themselves a quick penalty after a foul committed in the dangerous area. Through Kalolo, Saints were in the lead again-it was 1-2,
On second half resumption, Okhuti had come on for Hakim Senkumba but there was no chance for him to peer into the net despite the many opportunities that showed face. Assistant team captain – Ochaya Joseph was fouled near the 18 yard mark. This earned the visitors were booked before Paul Mucureezi could bring the free-kick which also went wide.
Soon, Herman Wasswa was coming on for Mpuuga Martin but this did less to change the tide of the game. On 74 minutes, left footed midfielder-Nunda Jackson was also removed for returning midfielder Ivan Ntege who tried his luck at goal with a good shot before it was punched back into play by Saints goalie.
To the full time mark, KCCA’s resolve to look for an equalizing shot was frustrated by the resilient visitors.
KCCA maintains the 51-point table lead with 5 games left to play.
