Match Preview: KCCA FC vs SC VILLA – UPL

KCCA FC and SC Villa face off in game day 22 of the Star times Uganda Premier League on Saturday 2nd March at Star times Stadium, Lugogo.

Julius Poloto, Manco Kaweesa (own goal) and Jacskon Nunda’s goals ensured KCCA FC were   3-2 winners away against The Jogoos in the first round that was played at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Since then SC Villa has looked more rejuvenated and with now some fresh faces that were not part of the side in the first round.

Fresh from a recent away win against Vipers away at Kitende that had the Venoms two-year unbeaten home run put to halt, the Jogoos come into this fixture with a “giant killers” tag.

Both KCCA FC and SC Villa are the most successful teams in the history of Uganda Football. KCCA FC boast of 12 Uganda Premier League titles just four away from Villa’s 16.

The “Kasasiro boys” will be hoping they can brush off the 2-1 midweek home loss against the tax collectors URA FC and no better way to accomplish this than doing it against the league’s record winners.

Patrick Kaddu who suffered a knock in training will have to under go a late fitness test to prove his ability to feature in this fixture.

KCCA FC skipper Timothy Dennis Awany is suspended and will not feature after accumulating three yellow cards in the league.

KCCA FC’s Muzamir Mutyaba (L) battles to possession with then Villa skipper Bernard Muwanga at Masaka Recreation Ground on Saturday. Muwanga now has Lugogo as his new home.

Bernard Muwanga could be handed the mantle to start at the heart of the defense in place of suspended Awany.

Lawrence Bukenya is now fit and could get some playing time against the 16-time Champions.

Fillbert Obenchan has returned to full fitness and the hard-tackling full back could feature in this game.

Three of SC Villa players, Allan Kyambadde, Nicholas Kasozi and Bernard Muwanga could feature against their former bosses.
