Following a year’s absence from continental football, KCCA FC are back with a CAF Champions League tie against Desportivo 1 de Agosto of Angola at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

The two sides face off on Friday in a historic match at the stadium that marks the first ever CAF sanctioned match at the venue.

Manager Mike Mutebi has indicated the team’s main target is to reach the group stages and says the match against the Angolan champions sets the tone.

Like we have always stated, the target we have is to reach the group stages, Mutebi told www.kccafc.co.ug before the Thursday morning training session.

The manager, who guided the side to the 11th title in the history of the club, has called for caution revealing the side needs to keep a clean sheet.

We don’t know much about them but we know they are Angolan champions. We shall use the first minutes to study them but we shall play our way. We must play in a disciplined way and ensure we keep a clean sheet.

He also said that he would take a nil nil stalemate from the match if the worse gets to worst.

In a home and away tie, conceding is dangerous and we must be cautious. I would take a 0-0 draw if the worse gets to worst because am sure we have the ability to score in Angola.

The last time KCCA played on the continent, they lost at the first round against Cameroon’s Cosmos De Bafia.
