Sadat Anaku’s 9th-minute brilliant finish and Erisa Sekisambu’s header at the stroke of halftime was all KCCA FC needed to pick three points over a stubborn Kyetume FC side and move within touching distance of the league summit.

Mike Mutebi maintained the same backline that played against CATDA FC. Lukwago between the posts, Aliro, Magambo, Kizza and Revita.

Gift started ahead of Kasozi, while Achai and Poloto completed the midfield three. Sekisambu, Anaku and Mike Mutyaba led the front line.

In the 9th minute, Magambo’s long ball found Anaku who weaved past Kyetume’s Steven Kagoda, found an angle and shot past custodian Mutakubwa Joel.

In the 20th minute, Anaku pulled a muscle while chasing down a long ball on the wing. He was withdrawn and replaced by midfielder Nicholas Kasozi who was fielded in a more advanced role.

Julius Poloto could have made it two for KCCA FC on 33 minutes but his effort from the left wing was parried over the crossbar by Mutakubwa.

With four minutes left to the end of the opening stanza, Gift Ali picked a loose ball in the midfield, took a touch and took a hit that Mutakubwa fumbled to save.

Sekisambu doubled KCCA FC’s lead with a header on the near post from a flawless Kizza Mustafa cross down the left-wing.

0-2 at halftime.

After recess, Kasozi had the best opportunity to stretch KCCA’s lead but his effort flew wide at the hour mark.

Mike Mutyaba’s mazy run and effort from deep was blocked by Kyetume’s Benon Tahomera just when Mutakubwa seemed beaten.

Peter Magambo was later cautioned with a quarter an hour to play for a foul on Cephas Kambugu. Former KCCA FC player stepped up to take the free-kick but the ball was cleared away by Kasozi.

With 10 minutes to play, Musa Ramathan replaced Mike Mutyaba, a move that saw Moses Aliro advance forward.

The cameo immediately showed an impact with lung-bursting runs down the right-wing and his supply met Aliro who almost scored another goal for the club on his second game but Kyetume’s Tahomera cleared.

Kambugu and Kayizzi combined to try and get a consolation for Kyetume but KCCA’s skipper Charles Lukwago made a spectacular save to deny them.

Kyetume will have custodian Mutakubwa to thank after he limited damage at the death of the game and denied Poloto, Kasozi, and Sekisambu in a reflex from stretching the lead.

0-2 is how it ended at the mighty arena, Jinja.

KCCA FC collecting big three points on the road and moving to within touching distance of the log leader Vipers SC who dropped points away to Mbarara.

KCCA FC lies second on 41 points, two behind leaders Vipers SC.
