Bright Anukani’s maiden goal for KCCA FC ensured the Cityzens would leave Mbale, eastern Uganda with maximum points.
The Cityzens secured their second win in three games on the road this term.
Abubaker Mayanja started as the center forward in place of injured Derrick Nsibambi
Earlier in the game, Anukani teed up Abubaker Mayanja whose effort was blocked by Mbale’s Musa Malunda in the 9th minute.
Two minutes later, Mbale’s Gideon Etou was cautioned for a foul on Shafik Kwikiriza.
At the quarter-hour mark, Anukani laid a good ball to Mubezi, who cut back and rolled the ball in the hosts’ box, but Mugume’s effort was a little too heavy, and the ball flew over the crossbar.

Mbale’s Abdul Malik Bironse was cautioned for a foul on Saidi Mayanja in the 16th minute.
A minute later, Abubaker Mayanja then rattled the woodwork with a well-taken header, and the rebound bounced off Mbale’s Serugo for a corner kick.
In the 29th minute, Anukani beat two markers and teed up Kwikiriza who shot with his weaker foot but his effort was saved by Mbale’s custodian Delton Oyo.
A minute later, a cross in the box had Abu Mayanja guide the ball in Anukani’s way, and the creative player made no mistake but nod the ball in the back of the net to give KCCA FC the lead and register his maiden goal for the club since his return.
Gavin Kizito and Joel Sserunjogi were cautioned for throwing the ball away and fouling in the 36th and 37th minutes.
The 41st minute was a moment of magic for Shafik Kiwkiriza. The left-footed player left the hosts’ defense for dead, but Mbale’s Malunda blocked his final shot off his weaker foot.
1-0 at the interval.

After recess, Haruna Lukwago replaced Saidi Mayanja in the 53rd minute.
With a quarter an hour to play, Sharif Ssengendo, Usama Arafat and Steven Munguchi replaced Shafik Kwikiriza, Haruna Lukwago and Bright Anukani.
Haruna Lukwago got cautioned for delaying on the pitch as he was subbed off.
Usama Arafat, a substitute, had the chance to double KCCA FC’s lead in the 83rd minute, but his final ball fell short.
Steven Munguchi was fouled on the edge of the hosts’ box. Joel Sserunjogi stepped up to take the free kick but his effort flew over the bar.
The final change had Etienne Katenga replace Abubaker Mayanja in additional time.
1-0 after 90 minutes.
