Defending Champions KCCA FC bowed out of the CECAFA Kagame Cup at the group stages.
KCCA FC collected three points from three games, winning one game and losing two.
The defending Champions came short against Burundi league Champions Le Messager Ngozi.
KCCA FC asked plenty of questions to the Burundi Champions early in the game but they responded so well to them.
In 10th minute, Denis Iguma failed to nod home Anukani’s corner. The ball was saved by Ngozi’s custodian Lukundo.
In 18th minute, Majwega run down the left flank and produced a well weighted cross that was met by Lwanga but his effort was blocked and cleared out for a corner kick.
Achai won possession at the center line and surged forward. The left back was fouled at the edge of the 18 yard box. Anukani stepped up to take the resultant freekick but it was blocked by Ngozi’s defense wall in the 24th minute.
Three minutes later, Lwanga dribbled past two men and held onto the ball before teeing up Anukani whose first time shot was parried away by Ngozi’s keeper Lukundo.
With 10 minutes to go in the opening stanza, Mbirizi Eric found the back of the net to give Ngozi the advantage.
After recess, Balinya, Ssenyonjo and Kigozi replaced Anukani, Aheebwa and Lwanga.
In the 50th minute, Musa Ramathan had the chance to level the tie but his header rattled the crossbar and was cleared away.
Substitute Balinya came close to scoring for KCCA FC in the 67th minute but his header hit the side net off a well crossed ball from another substitute Kigozi.
With a quarter an hour to play, Brian Majwega was cautioned for a foul on Ngozi’s Amin Abdul.
Iguma came close once again in the 85th minute but his header flew wide off the upright after Balinya and Magambo had set him up beautifully.
Gift Ali was cautioned in added time for a foul on Muderi Akbar.
0-1 the final score.
