KCCA FC and Express FC played out a 0-0 draw in the 1st leg of the quarter final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup played at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Lwanga Charles had the game’s first moment of offensive promise but his effort flew wide just inside two minutes.
In the 11th minute, Musa Ramathan who was making his first start since coming off injured against Police in the league, curled in a beautiful cross in the box. An unmarked Achai Hebert’s header flew was parried out for a corner by Express’ Otim.
In the 22nd minute, skipper Charles Lukwago swung into action to deny Express’ Kambale from breaking the deadlock.
On 33 minutes, Gift Ali and Mugume combined well in the box, the later teed up Musana Hassan whose effort flew over the bar.
Goalless at the interval.
After recess, Juma Balinya replaced an injured Achai Herbert.
On 63 minutes, Denis Iguma and Eric Kambale were involved in an exchange of words. Both player got cautioned by the referee Mashood Ssali.
On 70th minute mark, Gift’s cross met Lwanga who had the chance to give KCCA the advantage but his effort flew wide off the upright.
Peter Magambo had the game’s biggest moment in the second stanza when he denied Eric Kambale from scoring. The lanky defender cleared the ball off the line to keep the score settled.
With 11 minutes to the 90th minute mark, Jurua Hassan and Keziron Kizito replaced Mugume Ashraf and Gift Ali.
Bright Anukani also later came on for Sserwadda Steven.
