KCCA FC picked a very vital win against Bright Stars FC on the road in Kavumba.

The win was the first for KCCA FC on the road this term.

It took the beautiful combination of Saidi Mayanja and Derrick Nsibambi to break the Kavumba hoodoo.

Saidi picked out Nsibambi with a well-weighted pass, and the shirt number 9 made no mistake but slotted home at the half hour mark to hand KCCA FC the lead and what later proved to be the match-winner.

Earlier in the game, Saidi dribbled past Bright Stars’ Mandera and Oketcho and teed up Nsibambi, but goalkeeper Were saved the forward’s effort Were in the 16th minute.

In the 27th minute, Nsibambi dribbled past the goalkeeper, Were, but guided his effort into the side net in what seemed like a definite goal for KCCA FC.

Three minutes later, Nsibambi struck with precision off Saidi’s ball to hand KCCA FC the lead and to take his season’s tally to two goals in as many games.

Bright Stars’ left back Oketcho was then cautioned for a foul on Shafik Kwikiriza at the stroke of halftime.

1-0 at the interval.

After recess, Emmanuel Anyama replaced Nsibambi who picked up an injury towards the end of the first half.

Haruna Lukwago and Ashraf Mugume were then introduced to replace Sharifu Ssengendo and Bright Anukani at the hour mark.

Four minutes later, Bright Stars’ Kato Nemeyimana was cautioned for a foul on Ashraf Mugume.

In the 66th minute, KCCA FC’s captain Mujuzi Musitafa produced a timely block to deny Noordin Bunjo from close range. Mujuzi and his counterpart Hassan Muhamud hardly set a foot wrong all evening.

Shafik Kwikiriza

Subsititute Lukwago’s impact was felt by the hosts, the best of his output came in the 75th minute when he combined with Kwikiriza to beat two markers, Kato and Oketcho, before Lukwago crossed into the box but Anyama’s effort rolled inches off the upright.

Abdallah Mubiru summoned another double change, introducing Juma Ibrahim and Peter Magambo for Saidi Mayanja and Shafik Kwikiriza.

Bright Stars’ Atari Khassim and KCCA’s Haruna Lukwago were cautioned for foul play late on in the game.

1-0 at full time.

KCCA FC are now top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with 10 points from 4 games.

KCCA FC’s next fixture will happen after the international break against UPDF FC on Saturday 19th October, 7 pm at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
