7:00 pm

KCCA FC put up a five-star performance against Mbale Heroes FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium.

The visitors had an early chance, kept out by the skipper, Filbert Obenchan, in the 8th minute of the game.

KCCA FC’s real first moment of offensive promise came in the 17th minute when Saidi teed up Anaku, but the forward had his effort kept out by Mbale’s goalkeeper Simon Mabuya. KCCA’s Kwikiriza was in the right place for the rebound, but the ball rattled the woodwork and was cleared away by Mbale’s Kasozi.

Usama Arafat then found the back of the net beautifully to record his first league goal for the season thanks to Mayanja’s well timed assist in the 21st minute.

Five minutes later, teenager Brain Jjara teed up Shafik Kwikiriza who glided through the visitors defense like a knife through butter and doubled our lead.

Kwikiriza got cautioned for a foul on Mbale’s Joseph Kafumbe in the 33rd minute.

Sadat Anaku scored off Kwikiriza’s cross to stretch KCCA’s lead going into the break.

A minute after recess, KCCA had a sweeping move down the left flank and Mubezi sent in a curling shot in the box to the far end which was blasted over the bar by Usama.

Joel Serunjogi and Sharifu Ssengendo replaced Saidi Mayanja and Bright Anukani in the 56th minute.

12 minutes later, Yian Gatbel and Joao Gabriel replaced Sadat Anaku and Usama Arafat.

Teenager Gatbel scored his first senior goal four minutes after his introuduction thanks to Kwikiriza’s crisp pass.

If Gatbel’s goal was beautiful, then Ssengendo’s first goal since joining KCCA FC was simply outstanding. The shirt number 5 picked up his pass from Sserunjogi, controlled it, and sent in a fierce shot from outside the 18-yard box to make it 5 goals for KCCA FC.

Captain Julius Poloto then replaced Kwikiriza late on.
