KCCA FC 2-1 Mbarara City FC

KCCA FC were 2-1 winners over Mbarara City FC and qualified for the quarter finals of the 49th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

In a tightly contested game at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, KCCA FC took an early lead through Rogers Mato who had a beautiful interchange of passes with Brian Aheebwa before he slotted past Mbarara’s goal keeper Manja Mori to hand the home side the win.

At the quarter hour mark, Mbarara’s Henry Musisi was cautioned for a dangerous foul on Mato.

Five minutes later, Brian Aheebwa headed the ball inches over the cross bar from Allan Okello cross.

In the 23rd and 29th minute, the referee called for medical breaks after players Derrick Ochan, Charles Lwanga and Mbarara’s Hakim Magombe went down after suffering head injuries but later got back on their feet.

Ten minutes to halftime, Majwega won possession and crossed in the box and Aheebwa nooded straight to Mbarara goal keeper Manja.

Two minutes later, Henry Kitegenyi levelled matters with a fine finish that flew past goal keeper Derrick Ochan.

At the stroke of halftime, Mato beat two markers and crossed in the box but Aheebwa again headed the ball over the bar.

After recess, Kankonde Tshisungu replaced Aheebwa.

In the 55th minute, Kankonde was fouled by Mbarara’s Mugweri. The Congolese stepped up to take the resultant free kick but his effort was saved by goal keeper Manja.

In the 65th minute, Kankonde exchanged passes with Allan Okello and the former slotted past goal keeper Manja to restore KCCA’s lead.

The big man would later get cautioned for taking off his shirt during his celebration.

In the 68th minute, Saidi Mayanja and Senoga Kagawa replaced Ashraf Mugume and Charles Lwanga.

With 10 minutes to fulltime, Mayanja teed up Okello who scored but the linesman flagged him offside.

Usama Arafati and Hassan Mubiru would later replace Allan Okello and Rogers Mato in the 90th minute.

In stoppage time, Mujuzi got cautioned for a foul on Mbarara’s Ivan Otude.

2-1 at fulltime.
