KCCA FC returned to winning ways after a convincing 4-1 win against SC Villa at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Both sets of fans came out in a big numbers to support their teams and the stadium was packed to full capacity at the start of the game.
Kankonde had the game’s first moment of offensive promise but he went for the spectacular instead of a decent finish and Villa’s Elungat saved.
The Congolese magnifico Kankonde headed home from close quarters to give KCCA FC the advantage off a well crossed ball from Allan Okello in the 22nd minute.
Five minutes later, Saidi Mayanja opened his account for KCCA FC to stretch KCCA’s lead in the derby.
Mayanja was later cautioned for a foul on Villa’s Davis Ssekajja.
2-0 at the break.
After recess, Villa clawed one back courtesy of Fred Bbale in the 50th minute.
Three minutes, Peter Magambo replaced Geoffrey Wasswa in the 53rd minute.
Two minutes after the hour mark, Rogers Mato scored what could arguably be the goal of the season. The midfielder controlled a good ball from Waiswa and riffled the ball into the back of the net with his weaker foot to stretch KCCA’s lead.
Six minutes later, Julius Poloto and Ashraf Mugume replaced Allan Okello and Saidi Mayanja.
In the 81st minute, forward Muhammad Shaban replaced Kankonde.
A minute later, Haruna Lukwago got cautioned for a foul on Villa’s Kakande.
In additional time, Julius Poloto put the cheery on the cake with a first time finish off Mato’s cross to make it 4 for KCCA FC.
4-1 the final score.
