NEC FC 1-0 KCCA FC

KCCA FC went down to NEC FC under the lights at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

An early goal in the 9th minute from Enock Ssebaggala is all that the hosts needed to grab a win in the opening fixture of the second round.

Earlier on, NEC’s Geriga Atendele and KCCA FC’s Fillbert were cautioned for a scuffle between both players.

In the 34th minute, NEC’s goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo was shown a yellow card for handling the ball out of the 18-yard box but was later overturned after consultation with the referee and was handed a yellow card.

KCCA’s best chance in the first half fell to Ashraf Mugume, whose effort was parried away by Hannington Ssebwalunyo with 5 minutes to the halftime interval.

After recess, Umar Lutalo was handed his debut and replaced Mugume before the restart.

NEC’s Shamiru Kimwero and Jacob Okao were cautioned for foul on Lutalo in the 51st and 55th minutes.

Sadat Anaku later replaced Yian Gatbel in the 58th minute.

Three minutes later, Bright Anukani replaced Saidi Mayanja.

The hosts almost doubled their lead through Kimwero, but KCCA’s skipper Fillbert Obenchan made a timely block to deny him in the 64th minute.

In the 71st minute, NEC’s Ibrahim Musa was cautioned for fouling Ettiene Katenga.

Shafik Kwikiriza and Sharifu Ssengendo later replaced James Mubezi and Ettiene Katenga in the 76th minute.

Joel Sserunjogi | NEC FC vs KCCA FC

Joel Sserunjogi’s long pass then found Nsibambi unmarked on the edge of the box, but his overhead effort was saved by NEC’s Ssebwalunyo in the 79th minute.

Anukani was fouled by NEC’s Kimwero 10 yards out of the box. The midfielder stepped up to take the resultant free kick, but his effort was saved by Ssebwalunyo.

1-0 after 90 minutes.
