A series of inspection visits have taken place at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo ahead of the CHAN 2024 and AFCON 2027.
Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania are set to host the CHAN 2024 and AFCON 2027.
The MTN Omondi Stadium is one of the proposed venues to be used as a training facility during these continental tournaments.
On 20th November 2023, the Minister of State for Education and Sports (Sports), Hon. Peter Ogwang, NCS Chairman Ambrose Tashobya, NCS Secretary General Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel and the FUFA President, Hon. Moses Magogo, led a team of other technical personnel in the inspection of MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The Minister and his team were given a tour of the stadium by Anisha Shahir Muhoozi (KCCA FC CEO) and Moses Kaddu Ssekiti (KCCA FC Manager Operations and Administration).
The officials commended the progress of the construction work going on and gave necessary recommendations then.

The construction of the stadium is impressing but I have tasked the management of KCCA FC to ensure that the duration of the work is according to plan because this is one of the facilities we intend to use as a training ground during the AFCON 2027
Minister of State for Education and Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang
The Chairman, National Council for Sports, suggested the inclusion of other rooms when partitioning of the stadium starts.

The work is promising so far and there is still more to be done especially now that the second phase construction is commencing soon. NCS will provide the requisite support in ensuring that the stadium is completed soon and ready for use for various sports activities.
Ambrose Tashobya – Chairman, National Council for Sports
The FUFA President commended the club for welcoming current trends in the game and putting them into consideration during the construction of the stadium.

I commend KCCA FC for considering modern trends and requirements for a stadium befitting to host international tournaments. We have been told that there is provision for doping rooms, VAR room, security, media tribune, press conference room, media center, mixed zone, museum among others. As a Federation we will continue to guide and support clubs that have similar initiatives like KCCA FC
Hon. Eng. Moses Magogo – FUFA President.
Fast forward to March 7, 2024, CAF sent its official, Mr. Ismail Mohamed Wally, and Ms. Laumee Sophia, to carry out an inspection exercise ahead of CHAN 2024.

Officials from FUFA, NCS, and delegations from Kenya and Tanzania joined the pair as they conducted the inspection. Club CEO Ms. Anisha Shahir Muhoozi welcomed the officials and showed the visitors around the grounds.
Ismail and Laume gave recommendations for the stadium to be passed as one of the venues for CHAN 2024. Among these were new movable goal posts, extensions of the nets behind the goals to limit balls from flying over, new technical benches, modified dressing rooms, and a hybrid and modified turf or a natural surface.

The stadium is one of the proposed venues to be used during the #CHAN2024 tournament scheduled to be hosted in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
